Suspender re-soldered as usual with this medal. Pawnbroker’s mark to rim top left and slight loss of claw mount to medal on left hand side.
To W. J Clark Stoker H.M.S Satellite. One of 225 issued to the ship, confirmed on roll.
The imprisonment of British subjects by King Theodore of Abyssinia precipitated a punitive expedition under General Sir Robert Napier involving ships of the Royal Navy, a Naval Brigade and British and Indian troops. Casualties were unusually light, 2 killed and 27 wounded.
